Whereabouts Rules & Regulations
Prices
Prices vary due to size and location of each site as well as the amenities provided at each site. Refer to the reservation page for the most up to date pricing through Campspot.
Reservations
You must be 18 years or older to reserve a site.
There is only one way to make a reservation and that is through our partner Campspot. In person cash or card payments will not be accepted.
Reservation Limitations
Reservations have a 14 consecutive day per month limit with a 3 day gap between reservations to allow for site maintenance & regulation compliance.
Arrival & Check-in
Check in is 3pm.
Early check-in may be available at no additional cost at Whereabouts staff discretion.
All overnight campers must be registered prior to or during check in. This does not need to be done at the time of reservation but please ensure this is done while you still have internet access.
It is recommended that you photograph the condition of your site upon arrival and prior to setting up camp. Including the condition of the gates, grounds and posted signage. While normal wear and tear is expected, any damages during your stay will be the responsibility of whomever made the reservation.
Our sites are clearly outlined please keep your belongings within your site and avoid walking through other sites.
Guests are welcome during daylight hours. Any overnight guests need to be registered.
Site capacity will be clearly posted at each site. This will include a maximum number of: Registered campers, Daytime guests, RVs (including dimensions), Tents and Parked non-recreational vehicles.
Late Arrival
If you will be checking in later than 8pm please let us know by noon the same day. This will ensure, to the best of our abilities, that someone will be available in the event there are any issues.

Quiet Hours
The quiet hours at all Whereabouts sites & lodgings are from 10pm to sunrise, unless otherwise posted due to location or to comply with local ordinance. This includes music, yelling and the running of any generator or other equipment that exceeds a 65 decibels at a distance of 23 ft. Please be courteous to your neighbors during quiet hours.
Outdoor lighting is permitted so long as it does not result in complaints from neighboring individuals. Please be respectful.
Children
No one under the age of 18 is to be left on the site unsupervised by an adult. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children's safety and behavior.
Departure
Check-out time is noon. Late check-out may be available at no additional cost at Whereabouts staff's discretion. If a late check-out arrangement is not confirmed and you remain on the site beyond noon you will be charged for an additional nights stay and may still be required to vacate by 2pm if the site is reserved by someone else.

Cancelation Policy
Please understand that we cannot be held responsible for weather, illness, work schedules or other situations outside of our control, and therefore we enforce the following cancellation policies regardless of circumstances. For these reasons we strongly recommend travelers insurance.
Refund Policy
All refunds will be processed in the same way it was originally paid, i.e. back to the card that was used to make the reservation. The reserved check-in date is considered day 0 in all of the following.
A "site credit" as used in this section refers to a digital credit that will be sent to you via text or email. It is valid for the original reservation cost, less a $5 processing fee. This credit will be good at all Whereabouts locations. The credit will expire 1 year from the date issued.
Standard/Non-Federal/State Holidays/Non-Special Events
10+ days prior to the check-in date refunds will be issued immediately, less a $20.00 non-refundable transaction fee to cover the cost of processing the transaction on our end. As an alternative to the transaction fee you may also request a "site credit" as described above.
3 to 9 days prior to the check-in date you will be issued a “site credit” as described above.
1 to 2 days prior to the check in date you will forfeit up to 2 nights stay and any remaining days will be issued as a “site credit” as described above.
Day of check-in date you will forfeit up to 4 nights stay and the remaining nights will be used as a “site credit” as described above.
Special Events, Federal & State Holidays
Any cancellations made within 14 days of the check-in date that are for a reservation that encompasses an acknowledged special event (within 15 miles of the site) or a state/federal holiday are non-refundable. No credits will be issued.
Acknowledged special event: Upon making your reservation you will receive a confirmation from Whereabouts. In this confirmation it will be noted if we acknowledge any special events or state or federal holidays occurring during your stay. At this time you will have 24 hours to cancel your reservation in compliance with the standard cancelation policy.
In the event of an eviction from the site, rental fees are forfeit. There will be no credits or refunds.
No Show
Reservations will be held until check-out time on the day following your scheduled check-in date. No shows will result in forfeiture of all funds and the site will open immediately for reservation by others.
Non-Availability
Whereabouts would only cancel your stay if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We will, however, attempt to offer you alternative accommodation. If this is not possible, or unacceptable to you, then we will refund you in full with no additional fees, to the payment method used to reserve the site. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.
Motorized Transportation
No washing of vehicles or camping equipment is permitted at the campsite or at adjacent water sources, i.e. rivers, creeks, lakes and ponds.
The use of non-street legal motorized and non-motorized bikes and other vehicles is prohibited on Whereabouts sites but may be permitted by the local government. Please check for local rules prior to arrival. We will do our best to post the latest regulation pertaining to ORV usage at each site.
For liability reasons, all ORVs must be in compliance with local/state & federal regulation & escorted with the engine/motor off to within 10 feet of the nearest public road before it can be operated under its own power.
Pets
Campsites
No additional pet fee at Whereabouts campsites.
Pets must be declared prior to or at check-in. Name, breed and weight will be required information.
Pets must be licensed & leashed at all times, unless inside of your unit.
Portable pens are allowed however pets must be cabled within the pen.
Pets must be well behaved throughout the day and not be disruptive during quiet hours, excessive noise will not be tolerated.
Clean up after your pets. If your campsite is equipped with a trash receptacle you are permitted to use it to dispose of pet waste.
Rinsing of pets is permitted on site with water only, no soaps or shampoos. Any related environmental cleanup costs will be the responsibility of the individual who reserved the site.
Lodging
In addition to the campsite rules, Whereabouts Cabins or other Whereabouts dwellings are subject to a $50 pet cleaning fee and up to a $250 fee if either excessive cleanup is required or if it is determined that an undeclared pet was allowed in the lodging. Pets are not allowed in any bathhouses, laundry rooms or within 150 ft any other public outdoor area where cooking or cleaning may occur.
Smoking/Vaping/Tobacco use
Campsites
Smoking & Vaping Is permitted on all Whereabouts campsites. Be aware of wind direction & be respectful of your neighbors. Do not toss your cigarette butts on the ground, this will be considered littering.
Lodging
No smoking or vaping is permitted in any Whereabouts lodging, violations will result in a $250 cleaning fee, charged to the credit card on file.
If using chewing tobacco you must dispose of it responsibly and clean up after yourself, or be subject to a cleaning fee of up to $250.
Campsite Facilities
If your site is equipped with restroom, shower or laundry access it is only for use by the individuals registered to the site. No exceptions. Pets are not allowed within 150 ft of these facilities, unless otherwise posted.
Miscellaneous
No installing of accessories into or on to trees or other structures on or near the site is permitted, i.e. hammocks, clothes lines & etc.
No digging or trenching is permitted.
Do not disturb the grounds, leave the site as you found it. A cleaning fee up to the amount of $250 will be posted at each site and will be charged to the card on file if the site is left unreasonably disturbed, this includes littering such as leaving disposable kitchenware, cans, diapers, cigarette butts, etc.
No peddling, soliciting, advertising or other business is permitted from our sites. This includes yard sales, thrift shops, mobile food vendors and the like.
Accessibility
Motorized scooters & golf carts are permitted for use on Whereabouts properties only by those with limited mobility. Proof of disability must be provided at or prior to the time of check-in, at which time a digital pass will be provided.
If any other special accommodations are required please let us know at least 14 days in advance so we can try to meet your requirements to the best of our ability.
Fires (where permitted)
Do not burn trash in the fire pit.
Before starting any fire please check for local burn bans.
Fires must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Campfires are only permitted in the provided fire pits.
Fire pits are not to be moved. If a fire pit is moved, damaged or left full of trash we reserve the right to charge up to a $150 fee for cleaning or replacement.
Please ensure the fire is completely out and cool to the touch before checking-out.
If your campsite does not have an established fire pit and there is no signage permitting fires at your site, then it is to be assumed a fire is not permitted at your site. Signage will be in place on sites where fires are not allowed, but removal/the lack of signage is not a valid excuse for ignorance of this rule. If there is no established fire pit and no signage expressly permitting fires, do not start one. You will be liable for a cleanup fee of up to $250 and any other fines/fees incurred by the local/state & federal government as a result.
Firewood (when fires are permitted)
No cutting of trees on Whereabouts sites.
Due to invasive species, do not bring in firewood from outside of the surrounding county. Please source firewood locally from roadside stands, stores or a local online marketplace. For more information on invasive species please visit: https://www.ncforestservice.gov/forest_health/fh_firewood.htm
Charcoal may be used in place of locally sourced firewood.
Cooking
Cooking is allowed over the fire pits.
Propane & charcoal grills and electric cooktops are permitted to be used for cooking.
Fireworks/Explosives
All explosives, including fireworks are strictly prohibited on all Whereabouts properties. Any resulting fines or fees will be the responsibility of the individual who made the reservation.
Alcoholic Beverages
All state/federal laws apply. Alcoholic beverage consumption is restricted to those 21 or older. Excessively loud, combative, belligerent, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated at any time. Underage drinking will not be permitted under any circumstance and if caught, will be the responsibility of the individual who made the reservation. Drink responsibly.
Weapons
Possession of weapons such as firearms, knives, etc. while outside of your unit on Whereabouts property is not permitted unless otherwise licensed or permitted by the state or federal government.
Wildlife
Do not hunt/trap or feed the wildlife on Whereabouts properties, observe but do not interact.
Drones & Photography
Drones are permitted to be piloted by adults over the age of 18. Drones must be flown in compliance with local and federal laws & regulation. It is the responsibility of the drone pilot to ensure compliance. Please be respectful of the privacy of others.

EV Charging
No charging of EV’s unless the EV is the recreation vehicle itself. Anyone caught charging an electric vehicle that is not approved will be charged $50 for each occurrence.
Damages
The individual who made the reservation will be held liable for any damages caused to Whereabouts property by any campsite occupants.
Absolutely no dumping of waste tanks, including gray water, on any site that is not equipped with hookups or a dump station. Dumping of waste tanks onto the ground or into the river or streams is illegal and legal action will be taken. Any related fines/fees and charges in the environmental cleanup of waste will be the responsibility of the individual who reserved the site regardless of if they are the party responsible for the dumping.
Any tampering with Whereabouts utilities, security systems or posted signage may be subject to criminal charges. If something is leaking, tripping or otherwise malfunctioning contact Whereabouts staff immediately.
Security
As most of our sites are unstaffed, you must be able to provide proof of reservation and payment upon request from any whereabouts employee. It is recommended that you download or screenshot your stay details & receipt for access offline in the event there is no data service at your site. If we do not see your reservation in our system and you cannot provide proof of your reservation it may result in removal and a permanent ban from all Whereabouts locations.
Liability
We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees or contractors whilst acting in the course of employment.
Parking off site is subject to local ordinances and owners of private property. Whereabouts will not be liable for any towing bills or any other costs resulting from parking elsewhere.
Theft and Loss
Campers are responsible for securing their personal property, including, but not limited to, their campers and contents, vehicles, tents, or any other personal property. The campground, its owner, agents, and employees are not responsible or liable for theft or loss of any kind, nor damage caused by acts of God, fires, floods, windstorms, explosions, lightning strikes, accidents, or vandalism. Campers are responsible for maintaining insurance on their campers, vehicles, and personal property
Privacy Policy
Any data accessed during the course of your booking will not be shared with any third party. However, you may receive promotional emails from us unless you request to opt out.
Changes to this policy
Whereabouts reserves the right to update Rules and Regulations at any time.
Violation of any of these rules and regulations, as well as any other local/state or federal laws & regulations, could result in expulsion from the campsite and even a permanent ban from ALL Whereabouts properties.
